IP Spoofing for Dummies


If this above message seems familiar to you, this article is just for you, whether you are the victim or otherwise. For safe IP spoofing, so as to avoid fine by the hostel office, or sometimes, even worse, avoid canteen lectures by victims , following simple things can be taken care of.

Firstly, change your MAC ID. It is a unique ID of every network card. For changing it, you have to make scores of settings, instead download macadresschanger.exe and change the ID whatever you wish it to be.

Secondly, look for an free IP. Download any network scanner. Angry IP Scanner comes handy. It shows the offline IPs in red. Alternately type "nbtstat -a" followed by IP in your command prompt. But this hit n trial method takes quite a time.

Thirdly, change some attributes. Change the Computer Name and Computer Description. Sharing some folders can lead to some good guesses. Some network scanners even show the username you are working on. Change the username too.

NETiquette: Whenever you get the message in the figure, please go to step 1 and start once again. Of course, he/she might be the person who has paid for it. OR if you choose to use it hopelessly, disable your messaging service from 'Computer Management'>Services And Applications>Services>Messenger to avoid leave-my-ip messages....
